A Beak Book


Class: Year 4 (Language Art)
Time: 1 hour/ Friday
Theme: World Of Story
Unit: Unit 5 (Rosemary and the Four Gutsy Gnomes)
Topic: A Beak Book
Learning Standard: 3.3.1 Able to create simple texts using a variety of media with guidance:
                               (a)    non-linear
Learning Objective: Pupils will be able to choose a character from the story (Rosemary and the                                            Four Gutsy Gnomes) and produce a “Beak Book” of their own
Cross Curriculum Element (CCE): Language (new vocabularies) & moral values (following                                                                       instructions, cooperation), Art (drawing & painting)
Multiple Intelligences: Intrapersonal, Spatial-linguistic
Thinking skills: remembering, understanding, applying, creating
Teaching aids: Example of Beak Book, Pictures of steps in doing the beak book, A4 paper, colour                               pencils, pencil, scissors
Assessment: Pupils’ product (Beak Book)
Reflection: 8 out of 8 pupils were able to produce own Beak Book

Get a piece of A4 paper.
Fold the A4 paper into half.
Fold the A4 paper into half again.
Use a pair of scissors to cut in the middle of the folded paper. Cut about 2-4 cm.
Fold each flap into a triangle sharp & push the flaps inside.
Open the A4 paper that already been flapped.
Draw a nice picture of any character.
Done.
