mayat S. Prabakaran ditemui dalam sebuah longkang


Kejadian di Kuala Lumpur, nama mangsa S. Prabakaran, 27 dilaporkan diserang sekumpulan lelaki dan dijumpai dalam keadaan lengan kanannya hampir putus.
Mangsa dipercayai diserang menggunakan sebilah parang. Dalam kejadian yang sama, seorang rakan mangsa cedera parah di bahagian belakang badan dan di kepada.
Kejadian ngeri ini berlaku di Jalan Mata Ayer 1, Taman Setapak , KL.

Mak,
aq teringat akan wajahmu,

skimming & scanning_ a how-to guide

Skimming and scanning are very important reading techniques. In short, skimming refers to looking through material quickly to gather a general sense of the ideas, information, or topic itself.  When you skim, you read through an article three to four times faster than when you read each word.  


Scanning refers to reading through material to find specific information.  When you scan, you run your eyes over text or information to pull out specific words, phrases, or data.  For example:

You quickly go through a twenty-page report in a few minutes, and determine the overall subject, tone, and a few key points. This is skimming.

You pick up the newspaper in the doctor's office, thumb through the first few pages, and gather the gist of the events happening in the world.  This is skimming.

You flip through an accounting report to find a particular set of data.  This is scanning.

You open the classified section of a newspaper, find the automobile section, and then mark a few cars within your price range.  This is scanning.

Skimming and scanning work in tandem.  For English learners, both techniques should always be encouraged because, with practice, students realize that every word doesn't need to be read and fully understood.  Good skimming and scanning skills means that they will no longer be so strictly bound by the text, nor their reading and comprehension speed.  There are applications both inside and outside the classroom.

In the classroom, you may ask students to find specific key words in an article, or answer questions for comprehension, or decide on the purpose of the article.  With students who must read and understand every word, the opportunities for effective discussion becomes limited.  The opportunity to select more challenging articles also becomes limited, otherwise the entire class may be spent on a line-by-line translation.

Outside the classroom, students may look at bus timetables, job advertisements, business reports, emails, and so on.  A student will need to effectively and quickly gather and synthesize the information, an impossible expectation if he were to read each word.  The sooner students become accustomed to, develop, and improve their skimming and scanning skills, the better.

Here are some example activities to improve skimming and scanning:

Skimming:
Idea #1:  Students read the headline and the first sentence of each paragraph of an article.  They then pair up to discuss the guessed-at topic of the article.
Idea #2:  Students read the first paragraph and the last paragraph of the article.  They then work in pairs to discuss the guessed-at contents of the piece.
Idea #3:  Students have two minutes to read the article.  Of course, they won't be able to complete the piece, especially if they try to read each word.  After two minutes, students get into pairs to discuss the contents of the piece.  Additional points may also be discussed, such as overall tone (humorous, serious, persuasive), whether the writer supports or opposes the main idea,

Scanning:
Idea #1:  Several content-specific questions are written on the board before students receive the article.  Students read through the text and answer the questions.
Idea #2:  Key vocabulary words are written on the board before students receive the article.  Students read through the text and circle the words, then read the sentence for each word for context.
Idea #3:  You read aloud the beginning of a sentence.  Students must go through the article, find the sentence, and read it aloud.

With any of the above skimming and scanning ideas, make sure to let students return to the piece after their discussion.  Allot several minutes to skim and/or scan through the information once more to confirm the ideas exchanged with a partner.  Students should then pair up, correct any information previously exchanged, and add to the discussion.  When you then assign students to take a more detailed look at the article, they will be better prepared to do so.

Alhamdulillah, ptg tadi aq jemput Miss N dri KK, 
Syukur, dia sdh sihat dr Chicken Pox, 
2 minggu MC, dia stay di rumah...
mujur maminya pandai juga menggunakan ubatan tradisional (not so much),
dpt jaga Miss N...


Sepanjang 2 minggu, salu kolling dia, mcez x putus tiap hari...
dlm Miss N sakit, dia smpt bekalkan sedikit buah tgn untukku, thanks yeah Miss N... :)
ada kuih baulu, 100% homemade...
Alhamdulillah, merasa jg kueh baulu yg lama x trasa...


x smpt ambil gmbr kueh, sbb habis dimamam...hehex

to Miss N: Day 13 @ Jumaat Tiba Lagi

Jumaat, Penghulu segala hari...
tok adalah Jumaat yg ke-2 tnpa Miss N, tpi xpa... lagi 2 hari nya balik ctok :)
hari tok, ada BIG yg ke-3, Ceramah.
Ceramah kat dewan HOne, penceramah dri kalangan pensyarah sndiri.
ada 2 penceramah: En. Roger &En.Datu Raiman...
Ceramah Etika Pemakaian & Protokol Majlis...


Ceramah En. Roger mmg best! sbb dia pandai tackle attention pendengar, best bila dgr dia crita kisah hidupnya... ;)

to Miss N: Day 12 @ Baju ku Kena Rampas

Hadoy....
tok peztym baju aq kna rampas utk thn tok...
di rampas oleh warden asrama,
actually, aq salu kantoi sidai kat beranda luar + bilik kosong since 1st year aq study kt institut tok (2009), hehex.. pglman juak ya...
aq dah reclaim balik baju aq kt pjbt penyelia asrma...
mlg x bau, trpksa tulis surat tnjuk sbb eh, tpi aq blm tulis, aq akn tulis bila warden udh bg warning..hehex...


by the way, hari tok hari kamiz and Miss N akan balik x lamak gik, x sabar eh, almaklum la, 2 minggu x jmpa ngan Miss N... :)

Alhamdulillah, Miss N udh sembuh dr sakit tekak, :)
Tadik da kaka ngan nya, Sora nya udah clear, glad to hear it dear....
talking bout the lecture, hari tok ada Unit Beruniform  kelas, kelas mcm besa, ada kawad then dgr pembentangan kuliah...
then sblh mlm, aq tlg control 'PA system' untuk Junior TESL play, entitled King Lear...
sebuah play yang amat mengkagumkan sbb, dorang dpt hafal line yg begitu pjg...
then, pembawaan watak yg bgus for me...

to Miss N: Day 10 @ Labour Day

well, today is 1st of May, and it is Labour Day utk suma pekerja Malaysian...
cuti umum = xda kuliah...
Klau Miss N ada kan best, blh bwa bekpez roti Canai Crispy kat Daddy Corner@ Pekan Tuaran,
xpa2, mnggu dpn blh bekpez sama, 
pg tok, bgn awal, aq cc basikal and kemas bilik....
then, ada kelapangan, terdetik pula hati tok mao belajar..
aq study 'classroom management & ...'

Bon jour, hari tok aq da microteaching utk subject TSL3105 Listening & Speaking, 
aq, nura, naz & charlene work as a group...
naz presented utk set induction & closure,

& nura presented production stage...
so, overall, aq rsa average ja mekrang pun microteaching,

to Miss N: Day 8 @ Mode remain the same: Hubungan Etnik

Hari ke 8 tnpa Miss N, untuk mengurangkan rasa 'windu', aq buat kerja, tpi hati ttp 'windu' pd Miss N..., 
tpi aq tbhkan hti untuk wat keja and pergi ke kls,
plan nak sepkan hubungan etnik, 
dari pagi until ptg aq di kelas... 
at last, Hubungan etnik almost sep sepenuhnya...


orang ke-2 yg d-intebiu...haha

to Miss N: Day 7 @ 1 Minggu sudah berlalu

1 minggu sudah berlalu, 1 minggu lagi bakal berlangsung...
and then Miss N will come back..

Menghabiskan masa di KK, kekadang stay di campus ja, 
pusing-pusing meronda Tuaran...


Tpi minggu ni, aq keseorangan tnpa Miss N,
Aq decided stay kat kelas and buat Asaimen Hubungan Etnik...
Mulanya plan nak intebiu Miss N, tpi dia xda, so aq intebiu myself..hahax...
